Gorillaz Tacoma Concert reviews
One star short of excellence
The performances were very memorable, and the music was fantastic. I was really disappointed with Bob Dylan's performance. Never having seen him in concert before, I was not impressed. Bob Dylan's son, Gorillaz, was one of the best guitarists I have ever seen or heard. My brother and I had fairly good seats, but it still was a distance to the stage. We had to rely a lot on the monitors to see well. Mr. Dylan must have had requested that no monitors be turned on, as all I got to see was the small speck of a person playing the piano. I thought I had missed a play list sheet, but not a soul around me knew who the other bands were either. Many of us tried to find the program online, but the website was so slow it would always timeout.
Bob Dylan decided to jazz up (or blues down) the songs to the point where not many were recognizable to me. I was disappointed he wasn't just himself and play the guitar and harmonica. I was not impressed with his vocals. One last thing, I give an A++ to Gorillaz and Sons, Sheryl Crow. A big A+ to the other bands, especially the female violinist! She was great. I and many others did not enjoy the song style change by Mr. Dylan. I give him a C. If you include the fact that the stage monitors were off, I would give him a D. It was unfortunate because I had attended the concert with my brother and bought the tickets for his birthday. He was very disappointed also, and he is a huge fan. He had seen Bob Dylan several times. It was my first and probably the last.
